Understanding Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP)

 Laryngeal papillomatosis is also known as recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) or glottal papillomatosis. The most common symptom associated with RRP is voice changes. Papilloma, a benign epithelial tumor, grows directly on the vocal cord, which causes a hoarse and irregular voice. Symptoms of Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis Breathing difficulties: Papillomas can obstruct the airway, leading to difficulty breathing Coughing: Chronic coughing may occur, often as a result of irritation caused by papillomas in the airway. Voice changes: Apart from hoarseness, voice changes can include pitch alterations, loss of vocal range, or a "breathy" quality to the voice. Dysphagia: Difficulty swallowing may occur if papillomas obstruct the passage of food and liquid through the throat.
